Default Ring of Flame?

I was looking to play a PBAE guy just to see how far I can go. As near as I can tell, the only thing affecting ring of flame damage is soften metal (the upgrade), which adds physical damage (?) and volativity, which affects all fire damage. Other than that, just items and intelligence as usual.

Am I missing something? If not, ring of flame seems awfully week compared to some of the other attacks out there.

earth enchantment and items with +% fire damage modifiers will improve your damage. it does seem kind of lame though.

I thought earth enchantment only improved weapon damage, e.g. staff, sword. I don't think it affects spells, but I could be wrong.

Ring of Flame is pretty weak.....(only 21-28 dmg once skill is maxed) and when it's activated u cannot regenerate energy points...but it does help when u're surrounded by hordes of monsters

Actually it only costs 2-3EP/s depening if you have the upgrade so most mages could still regen with it activated if they have a remotely decent regen rate, which they should.

I just started an Avenger so this should be a nice skill to help with mob control.

I started a new character that is just earth right now and he does just fine so far in normal using ring of flame. 1-2 ticks will kill 90% of the mobs so far for me.

Yup, I'm digging it on my low lvl Avenger. When you get swarmed by mobs it helps thin them down.

its really good early but way too weak later in epic and definately legendary because even with a ton of +fire and INT a base dmg of 30 every 3 secs is still horrible considering i can launch a VO every 3 seconds that wipes out everything. maxed all the way each tick takes off maybe 5% to 10% of the mobs health in legendary which doesnt help all that much because most things dont survive more then one attack anyway so id prefer the energy and regen of not having them

i just cant agree more with the comment above
till the middle/end of epic the rings works fine but legendary.... its just a very different story, once u get there put the rings skills in smfn else.... like VO or the dweller buffs
