Default Elementalist

Hello all,

I was messing around a bit and my first character was a Soothsayer going all nuts on pets and all (in addition to Tenarion attack) and while it was a good combo, it seemed kind of boring. Not to mention, the 2 buds I play with have Nature as their secondary so I wanted to try something else.

I am currently working on an Elementalist (Level 30 now and not technically an Elementalist yet as I haven't put any points into Storm Mastery. Only Earth so far.). For an ending spec, I am looking at mainly Earth. Here's a link to Titan Calc for those interested http://www.titancalc.com/TitanCalc.a...2-12-12-8-12-0

Largely, the idea is to have a BURN EVERYTHING DOWN TO THE EARTH MENTALITY. While Flame Surge seems to have gotten a pretty bad wrap, I think the damage on it is fairly decent and with +fire% gear and speccing it out with a -100% refresh, you can really belt out some punishment.

The only thing I am thinking of taking from Storm is 1 pt in Wisp and 8 in Eye of the Storm for a further 100% damage. On paper, it really looks like this guy should be able to belt out some really nasty AOE damage. Does anyone in the know have any thoughts or thoughts about a more interesting secondary to the Earth line?

This is my first post here, so please be gentle. I'm a virgin

Regards,

Burpy

Cool, just trying to see if I am doing something that may be demonstratably silly haha. I mean, that's a whole lot of fire

Ya, the only problem might be high fire resist monsters. I'd recommend getting squall for taking care of archers and lowering resists a little bit.

About how many points would have to go into Squall to make it useful? I could easily dump 3 in it at the cost of my Core Dweller.

Well the main skill increases the AoE and damage by a huge amount. The second synergy increases the amount of resistance decreased. So the more the better in both.

Eh, I'd try to keep your Core Dweller @ full; he has serious survival issues in higher difficulties if you don't buff him up, and you're pretty much reliant on him to keep them there for you so your AoE's can dish the damage.

I'd take points out of Conflagration as it does very little, nor does Brimstone if you're investing that heavily in spells.

As someone else mentioned, the one problem you're going to face is highly-fire resistant monsters, e.g., the fire demons in Act 3. If you're going Elementalist, you're going to need another source of damage from Storm.

hey (first post)

nice i'm an elementalist too,and i suggest you to mix lighting and fire more, cause you will find a lot of good mobs with high fire resistence. Also the storm has a lot of very very good stuff.I'd suggest to remove points from flame surge e co. because they take a lot and are effective yeah, but not that much.Add some points to the lighting bolt because it is very fast and effective.A powerful bolt deals a lot of damages and stuns the enemyes. If you are an elementalist you should work on your intelligence and use magic staffs or whatever they're called. So you wont need brimstone, try to remove some points from it and add them to the storm nimbus,so with storm nimbus and earth enanchement active you will inflict a lot of lighting/fire damages and your intelligence will add its elemental bonus to both elements!! Then with a good magical staff with lighting/cold and fire damages plus storm nimbus and earth enanchement active, you will inflict more more damages! Also if the enemy will have a lot of fire resistance or a lot of lighting resistence, there will always be the other element wich will inflict heavy damages! You won't need the volcanic orb anymore cause the lighting bolts and the eruption will simply destroy everything.
Here's how i'm going to spend my points

Squall is one of the best skills in storm mastery, with its synergy you reduce up to 30% of the enemys resistance
its a must have, and should of be maxed for your fire attacks to become really good, mainy eruption, which in my opinion is the best earth skill.

i assume squall only really becomes useful in epic?

I'm a lvl 30 elementalist and about to finish normal. I originally had 1 or 2 skill points in squall and ended up respecing since i couldn't find a use for it.
the extra dmg i did with lightning bolt+chain or volcanic orb just helped more...
should i respec again when i hit epic?
