Does Brimstone work for staves?

only physical, so no staves, but not just weapons. spells with physical damage get effected also.

Volcanic Orb and Eruption will recieve a 25% Bonus to the Physical Damage part of the spell from 8/8 Brimstone.

Since staves always deal 100% Elemental Damage Brimstone will not boost any of the Staves actual damage but the X Burn Damage over Y Seconds is boosted by Intelligence in damage and duration as well as Earth Enchantment boosting the X amount directly.

I'm an elementalist, and I was planning to rely heavily on my staff with the +% elemental damage skills, so should I bother with brimstone? Or is this kind of build even viable? I don't quite know what I'm doing with this class.

Brimstone can be used with staves to get more damage out of +X damage items & relics.
Other uses to boost pet damage, or any other weapon it good with (Bows Spear Swords). Other than that it near worthless.

I personally really like Brimstone, and would take it anyway. If youre an elementalist Eruption will probably still be a useful spell if you go that high and it has physical damage incorporated.

Besides it does a small bit of Burn damage over time, with EE maxed and 650 intelligence i think the 8/8 Brimstone's ~100 fire damage becomes something like ~700 damage over ~7 seconds. (So 100dps)

Volativity would of course increase that too.

Brimstone adds Burn damage to your staff. Fire damage over time. That's it.
