Default Monster dying to easily?

Hey, I've been playyng a action RPGs for quite a while, and what I've noticed is the ones that I enjoyed the most were the ones where the mobs were a bit harder to kill, such as Diablo 2, Dungeon Siege etc. From what I see in the demo, 90% of the monsters are too easy to kill (with certain spells - 1 shot=1 kill). However, this is not about the imbalances within any of the masteries. I've even tried with the all the masteries, even the Hunting Mastery, but mobs still seem to die very easily.

Are the monsters gonna' get tougher later in the game, or perhaps on other difficulty levels? Because I think it is an important part of any RPG to make you work for your kills, so that you get a sense of satisfaction when you finish off a group of enemies. What do you guys know, or think about this ?

Other than that, some mastery imbalances and the fact that it's a demp, I'm pretty much in love with the demo.

Oh and altough this is my 2nd post, I've been reading the forum for about the week or so, and I really liked the fact that the developers take an active part in this comunity, they considered what the players have to say aboyt a certain feature, and they reported that many of the issues with the demo were corrected for the full game. A team as dedicated and involved as the one for Titan Quest is a rare thing. Kudos to Iron Lore for such a great game.

The difficulty of mobs can be categorized in “Difficulty by numbers” and “Difficulty by strength”
Bosses are the latter. Most trash mobs the former. Imagine how boring it would be to always only meet 1 strong mob at the time. Often it’s harder to meet multiple enemies because you need to make decisions on which mob to take out first (or if you’re smart use AoE )

Anyway, I don’t think you can judge too much from the demo. I mean the first levels are supposed to be easy even for people unknown to the genre and on top of that choose a totally stupid talent path. So quite obviously it’s easy for hardcore players who know what talents to pick. ^_^

Napoleon, that is a boss. I'm talking about the regular monsters that you fight through-out the game.

Phyrex, I know what you mean by strenth in numbers. The monsters in all RPG games base their strenth on their numbers. But look at Diablo 2 or Dungeon Siege: there were lots of Monsters, and yet in most cases they required more than 1 hot in order to kill (maybe 2-4 hits?), which made tthings significantly harder and more challenging for the player. And sometimes when you faced a newer, more advanced monster, you were finding that it's really hard too kill. For example, when I met the Centaurs in the demo for the first time, that didn't seem to be the case.

But I hope that the full game will make things sisgnificantly more challenging for teh player, and not only on higehr difficulty levels.

Do not have any concerns. You are not the first to post this topic. Developers already told us that TQ is harder than Diablo2. "Even finishing normal mode is hard without dying"

There's a dev diary talking about a monster wielding some staff and using it on the player.. so I'm rather confident that they will make more damage when handed a good weapon by Mr.Random. Which kinda gives some food for thoughts when you consider the enemy running at you with that epic sword dealing 200+ damage

You also shouldn't forget that the enemies will be given the complete mastery powers a player can have ! So I expect when advancing further in the game, and/or the difficulty levels you will more often and often encounter monsters which aren't shy about throwing some lava orb towards you.. you can only hope that they will not try to beat you with a 200+ damage epic sword with fire enchantment and level 10 brimstone

Well, I guess we'll have to wait for the full version to see. I'm so excited about this game. :P

I wonder if the Egypt and Orient sections of the campaign are longer, with more monsters, compared to Grece. And I also wonder how the monsters from the later sections of the game will act. Can all the monsters carry weapons? Or are there monsters with tentacles, claws and such, that don't need weapons to bring you down? (and I'm not talking about monsters that can punch you, I've seen that in the demo)

Just to be clear, the demo is only a small part of Greece.
