Post Just another guys opinion of the Demo =)

Hi there,

I played the demo up until it kicked me out As is, I do not think I will buy this game. Mostly due to some inconvenience of play issues. Here are my thoughts...

Graphics: Real nice! The whole terrain does a minor vibrate when running, but so what. It's really pretty and impressive.

Keys: I struggled for the whole hour with not using the wasd keys. I imagine I'll get over it, and it got better once I could lean on the shift key the whole time. I neglected to look for an option to make the "don't move to attack" the default, but I sure hope it is there. The radius of aggro forces the camera to be zoomed all the way out so the mobs get rather small and it's easy to mis-click and find yourself running around needlessly. Please include an alternate classic movement option (wasd).

Inventory: Inconvenience and game balance surely can't be the same thing. I spent most my play time juggling items around trying to cram the most valuable goods in my pocket. This was amplified by having to pick an item up to compare it with what I'm carrying. The whole thing became remarkably tedious and I would say this would prevent me from playing long at all. Likely, I would give up long before any item drops that help the issue (backpacks).

Alt Key Bug: Sorry, I know this isn't the bug forum, but just to mention that the alt key does not show all the items on the ground.

Standing on Loot: When I have to run over to each item I pick up, or more realistically try to pick up but fail due to space, I end up standing on what I want to see. With the Alt key not working for all items it became annoying to run in little circles to try and see the tiny loot.

Equipment Swapping: I have come to expect that when I drop a new sword on my old sword that they swap slots in my inventory. Call me nitpicky, but it really is little things like this that add up and cause me to stop playing. Also right click will often equip items from inventory and swap out old items in most games.

Good things: I imagine none of this feedback is new, but for kicks here are some good things I noticed.
- Beautiful world building.
- Bosses were beefy and fun.
- Particle effects were tastefully done for my level yet still cool.
- Interface is easy yet not huge. Well done!
- Skills and spells are nicely done and easy to learn.

Anyways, I hope my feedback helped in some small way. I'm looking forward to seeing how the game progresses. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums

The Z key is what you use to see all items on ground, there is also a few other keys to filter items its in the options of the game.

Inventory - I had thought the same as you and many others, but after noticing that gold is not needed much with only few options worth spending it, i think after lvl10+ you will end up looting just for the best gear and not for everything you see on the ground.

Only few items you will need to buy is starter gear and potions and if you ever decide to buy tunic dye to change your color, very inexpencive stuff.

However even with that said there is expencive stuff at the vendors so having a little cash on hand just incase is not all a bad idear, some forum members reported a few good items from the vendor but i didn't get any, npc's don't like me.

How the inventory is managed is another issue and i also would like to see a way to better organise it and think there working on that now.

The wasd i would also like much better as im very accustom to it in mmogs, its just less finger bashing my mouse has to do, so i agree.

So i guess that fixes some of the probs you was having as you wont be standing on items no more, and sorry i can't help with equiptment swapping.

Big hugs,
Lestai

Greetings and welcome Shawn and good post. I hope to resolve some of the invetory thing in my own custom quests where I'll focus more only gold dropping than equiment.

Thanks for the info! I could have sworn the tutorial window told me it was Alt

Lestai, your point on not looting everything makes sense. It'd take some adjustment emotionally I guess. I do like the chance to pack away some items either for the fun of keeping them or for some misinformed strategic advantage.

Davey, I didn't even think about the possibility of user created content. That really adds a lot of value to a game if the editor is good and the community is passionate!

I'm on the fence now

From what we've seen of it (Max, I know you're exhausted by screen shots soon please ) it'll be brilliant and add a ton of replay value as those of us more interested in the editor rather than the game will get cranking right away. To me, this is like Diablo II with an vastly improved NWN editor. To me, the editor is waht I'm waiting for and I suspect people wil be making content for years.
