Exclamation Camera Movement "Enabled" or Not...let the devs know! ;)

As stated here...the option IS there, we just need to let them know we want it

And for those who don't want it...simply don't use it

If anyone has "any" doubts about this issue I strongly suggest that you watch the 2 Gameplay Trailers on the 1st page of the Main site:

http://www.titanquestgame.com/

After seeing those, for me there is no question. WE NEED THIS ENABLED! (imo) heh

Our approach with the game has always been to under-promise and over-deliver, and since nothing's set in stone (beyond a substantial budget we have earmarked for post-release), it's too early to say definitively.

As for the camera, it's not going to have rotation enabled at release.

We may look at unlocking it through a cheat code, or something similar, as we have the functionality,

but the scenes are optimized for a particular camera angle, so rotating the camera could cause performance problems, issues with transparency, and getting into positions from which you can't comfortably play the game. Basically, we looked at leaving it enabled, and we decided that we could make the world look better (i.e., we don't need distance-fogging like a lot of 3D games use) and the controls easier for casual players to handle if we left out pan and tilt from release.

Best,
Eyejinx.
Thx Eyejinx for all you do!

Regards,

My question, why would anyone VOTE to say NOT? I just dont understand that. If Camera rotate was enabled, and I HATED IT SO, guess what? I wouldnt rorate my camera. Done deal.

It wont affect my gameplay, but others that want it can rotate it to their hearts content, and guess what? Them doing that wont affect my gameplay either.

So why EVER say no to this idea?

Just being logical.

Options are the spice of life in PC games.

Typical. When Americans are making polls or elections they always only make 2 options. Are you against me, or with me? ARK.

But since you only gave me 2 options, then I voted no.

ps. You are American right?

LOL

It's a cut and dry issue. Either you have enabled or you don't. I felt there was no reason to have more than a Yes or No selection. All that would do is water down the results and possibly lead people to accidently choose the wrong answer that truely reflected their opinion.

I don't need answers like "well it would be nice...but I don't need it"

All I want is do you want the ability re-enabled or not.

Plain and simple is best.

And also the best kind of Poll IMO

Yes I am American and very proud

But again this poll is not nuanced at all. It dosn't tell us very much.
Maybe we should make a poll to find out whether 2 or more options are best in a poll. You can vote: yes, no or "I don't care".

So, apparently camera rotation will not be enabled at release. Then I guess I'll have to monitor the website and wait for the patch that enables it before I buy the game. I'm kind of surprised that a game that is so advanced in many ways (detailed graphics, wide screen and high resolution support, physics, grass that sways after you walk through it, loot drops that actually make sense, etc.) will release with camera controls more primitive than the original Dungeon Siege. Good camera controls can be the difference between a so-so game and a truly immersive, addictive game. I would personally say to delay the release until the camera controls are finished, but I know there are a lot of people who want to play it like it is, so I guess I can just wait for a patch. I just hope they do a good job of it.

I think the key word about camera rotation in Eyejinx's post was "perfomance." A rotating camera will affect game performance. If the devs say the world looks better and plays better without it, fine by me. But I agree that the poll is a good idea and the option for some is the option is considered necessary and wanted.

Agreed DaveyJJ

Give me the "option" to have Camera flexability and I'll weigh the performance hit IF there is any at that point.

But the way it is atm is silly imo...I mean you can't even pan the camera around in town (no fighting/activity) just to get a decent screenshot of the front of my character???

That seems crazy to me. Especially after watching the gameplay trailers...I'll upgrade my system to whatever I need to be able to play the game the way it is shone in those videos.

But I'm pretty sure that I'm good to go with the system I currently have. If I can play Oblivion on Ultra-High settings I sure as heck should be able to pan the camera around a bit in TQ lol

Only two options, so I vote no?

How dumb.

Again, I fail to see how enabling this OPTION affects those that do not want it.

As far as the American vote comments, this IS a cut and dry choice. I wish for once someone would at least give some logical thought and reasoning behind why they dont want this option in the game, whether they would use it or not.

I think Eyejinx is the one who answered your question for you ... "the scenes are optimized for a particular camera angle."

So having even the option of camera rotation means some players, if they choose to use it, will have gameplay problems.

I can't speak for Iron Lore, but if I were a developer I might not want players to have the sorts of preventable problems that might arise if players had that option.

I think?
