Default Placing points in stats a bit counterintuitive? Place one point and you get six?

So, I place one point in strength and get six and then I place one point in dex and get three. Why? Am I the only one who thinks that feels counterintuitive? I really prefer a system where 1 point in a stat give you +1 to that stat. Why complicate things?

If you want a point to be worth more as you level up maybe you could use for exempel strength->power where you always get 1point=1str but the power rating could increase more per point placed in str as you level up.

If you´re going with this system, atleast tell me how many stat points I will get for the point I put in before I do it(like a tooltip or something). Now, if you have an item with certain stat reqs you don't know how many points you have to spend to reach that number.

Not sure why you got those 6 and 3... When you put one point in an attribute, you get 4, whatever the attribute is, and for health and energy, it's 16 points.

Of course, if you wear some items that gives % bonus to strength and health, or intelligence and energy, those will actually increase. But 3, you might have mislooked

It's indeed quite counter intuitive, but I'd guess it's for:
- being able to give moire points for 1 for health and energy (well, it could be 1 = 1 for other attributes, and 1 = 4 for these)
- make it so the player doesn't have to choose too many points at each level up, as one of the goal of Brian Sullivan was to make it simple to enhance your character (hence why no customization at character creation for example, or the ability to undo puting points in skills while you don't close the window - would have been cool for attributes as well, put 1 in int by mistake with my Hunter )

Yes, my exempel of 6 and 3 might be wrong but I don't think I got 4 stat points all the time either or else I wouldn't have reacted. I have to go check again.

I wonder if it has something to do with what mastery you have?

Maybe if you have invested in warefare, you get more points when you apply your leveling points on STR.

Maybe a Pyromancer gets more INT when applied there.

A hunter when applying to DEX, and so on.

Can someone from Iron Lore shed some light?

I always had exactly 4 point per point put in one attribute, whichever the attribute and mastery was (except of course for health and energy where it was 16 for 1 )

Each point in Health/Energy increases HT/EN +16
Each point in Strength/Intelligence/Dexterity increases ST/IN/DX +4

Each level of Mastery (big button) gives following bonuses:

Earth
IN +3
HT +10
EN +8

Warefare
ST +1.5
DX +1.5
HT +28

Hunting
ST +1
DX +3
HT +16

Yup, I played until level 6 without any stat and mastery increased. Afterwards, I made a backup of the character file, so I can test any skills.

Yeah, great job on that info. Explains where all the points came from. Seems unnecessary complex to me. Will be harder to plan out a character like you could in Diablo 2 to be able to use a speciel weapon for example.

Nice info, hadn't noticed that mastery points gave attribute points Those give some insight as well on which attributes will be the most useful for each mastery by the way.
