Default First Impressions of the Demo

My review of the Demo.

I am blown away. The second I loaded up the game and talked to the first nearby NPC I was suddenly thrown into a flashback of my countless hours put into Ultima 7 (one of the greatest RPG’s ever made). And I instantly fell in love with it. It’s a classic action RPG. And that makes it so refreshing from the current crop of games. It’s not trying to do anything new and unique…it’s building on the classic and original form of a GOOD solid RPG.

Graphics – Top notch. I thought the enviroments were rich and beautiful. Full of life and vibrance. I felt they could be a little more interactive. But still, it’s beautiful to look at.

Sound – Best I’ve heard in a while…the ambience especially stands out as very detailed. I have 5.1 surround sound and man does it sound GREAT. Action sound effects are well done.

Gameplay – Straight up action RPG style. Dungeon Romps, hordes of enemies. I LOVE IT! The wide variety of skill paths you can take was very thought out well. I loved how items dropped out of chests. Animations are all very detailed. Complex? Not at all. And that’s what makes it so great. It’s a true form RPG.

I hear the full version has Co-Op for the single player game…this makes it a MUST buy for myself and my wife. I probably wouldn’t have bought it otherwise. Nothing better than a dungeon romp with someone you know.

CONS – The inability to control the camera kind of bugged me. I can zoom in and out but I couldn’t turn it so I could see ahead of myself. It’s not game breaking, but it still bugs me not being able to see more of the environment by not being able to turn the camera at all.

Instead of constantly clicking...i’d like to be able to hold down the mouse button and repeat an attack over and over.

When attacking enemies...it doesn't feel like i'm actually HITTING them. There needs to be more of an impact animation when hitting an enemy. It kind of feels like i'm fighting them with a feather.

This is a MUST buy.
