Fast Track to Colossus Form...

Well I created a new guy and took him on a fast track to get colossus form.

Only thing I did for 12 levels was give him energy to up his spell level. So at level 12 he was at 32 level spell use with a 1 in Colossus Form. I hit level 12 right at the Olive Branch Spider (just before I fought it).

So I was like ALRIGHT a good test!

Like I said earlier I had no skills - only used points to raise spell level. So it was a hard journey - along the way I rarely found any good items. But I did find a good spear, leggings and arm bands that all do +++ piercing damage. So I had not choice but to go with these weapons.

Ok back to the story. Now here I am at the Spider. I hit Colossus form. THe spider summon its little spider friends. I just steady hit the spider with the spear. I did not count the hits to kill it but I did not lose more that 1/2 of my health in the process with out using a potion. I know that is not an amazing feat, I am just telling the story.

So all in all Colossus Form is an ok Spell. But I prefer Chain Lightning. I pretty much did the same thing with the Storm person (i.e. took them straight to 32 level spells) and gave them Chain Lightning on top of a +1 lightning bolt. Now that is a tough spell!

I will see how Colossus Form pans out in higher levels. But somthing tells me I am going to ditch this character.


NOTE: It take Colossus Form a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time to be able to recast! I mean a really long time!

Defense is not only about Colossus heh.
In fact, some players love this skill - and will chain use it with cooldown-reduction items, while others don't bother too much about it. Nevermind it's a viable skill I just don't like it much myself and I while might use it for boss fights it's all the other cool defender skills I love in this class. If colossus skill was taken away completely I would not miss it much.

It also probably doesnt really shine without having some other skills from the defense tree. Looking at it in isolation is probably not a good test build as it is not realistic. Developing your character slowly towards having Colossus and then using it appropriately is more likely to give you what you seek.!

Creating a Defense character JUST for colossus form is not a good mindset unless you use all -recast gear which can then lead to a boring character. Now with Refresh getting nerfed big time, you can't even use nature for perma-colossus. Defense has got a lot going for it that you colossus is really one of the last things you should be focusing on.

Max out resiliance and only cast collosal when adrenaline kicks in. It shaves a TON off of Collosus recast time. You can buy a shield with a -recharge adder on it easy in town as well. Use it on switch.

Your other class can help too. Battle standard from warfare has a -50 recharge timer bonus. And of course there is refresh from the nature tree. And if you happen across a tracker's hood or similiar item, you can use it almost all the time.

Yes, battle standard plus adrenaline rush plus battle standard is a mighty combination indeed.
