Warden or Paladin

I currently have a level 53 Warden and am quite satisfied with her. She has ok resists (the ones that I feel count the most) and a good equipment setup. She is doing 6000 dps a second before adrenaline kicks in and has 4600 hps.. I was recently in a game with a paladin (level 55) and he seemed to be doing some pretty impressive damage. I asked him what his DPS was and he said 15k.. at this point I was just in awe. I thought my 6k was impressive but he was more than double me. How is this possible and what builds are out there that can do this? I have pretty much all the equipment I'd need (we were wearing almost the same stuff).
