Spellbinder/Shield Skill Help

I'm thinking about making a spellbinder, but I've been constantly confused regarding Shield Charge and Batter. Are they worth maxing? Are their synergies worth maxing? I've used Batter and batter with one point in each and and it works really well. But will I need more later? Same for shield charge/disruption.

Regarding the spellbinder, will I need both dark covenant and inspiration? I'll be using ravages of time and deathchill, and maybe necrosis. And is Life Leech a good investment for a meleer(perhaps only with necrosis activated)?

This is my build so far, and I can't figure out where to place my other points.

Edit: Just realized necrosis only has an area of effect of 3.7 meters, which seems like it really limits me on who I can use my life drain on.
