Default Two Questions, help appreciated..

Hi guys, I'm very new to Titan Quest. Just hit level 12 and am venturing to the East from the Oracle..

Right now I'm all Defense. I'm pumping points into the Mastery, and just adding 1 point to the skills I need before continuing to pump points..

I have two questions that I hope someone with experience can help me with.

First off, I'm really at a loss as to which Secondary Mastery to choose. I love the Defense Tree, I love being in the middle of a ton of mobs and being able to survive long enough to kill them all.

I'd like a Secondary that would enhance that. I'm not looking for Ranged at all, just something that I can take to end game and be successful with. I was thinking maybe Defense/Spirit for the +slow% aura, but I figured ou guys with experience would be able give me your suggestions. Basically, I want him to be pretty much melee focused, but have survivability.

My second question is this.. Is there a way to 'farm bosses' in Single Player? I haven't figured out how to reset dungeons (basically caves since I'm a newb lol) to get the bosses to spawn again. I've noticed that in my 2 runs (I also have a level 10 Storm/Nature), some bosses are completely random!

I'm gunna throw in a quick third question also.. I've never seen nice loot drop off of a named boss (Like Leatherwing in Old Elusius who seems to be rare). It all seems to come from chests that certain bosses protect. Does this change? Like, is there a % that they can drop a nice item? Or are they just for extra xp.

I'm sorry for the long winded post but future thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Be safe,
Xander Steel.

Hi Xander and welcome to the forums! Pumping mastery points is the way that I play too. Your char really benefits from the attributes during those early levels. And, when you play your 2nd char, you need fast atribute points to use higher level gear passed down from your first char. If you find yourself short of STR to use shield/armor, I'd suggest Armor Handling. But once you have higher stats you can remove those points because they just aren't worth it (check other threads on Armor Handling).

As for 2nd mastery, the world really is your oyster! You can do Hunting and use the spear skills for a Warden. Or do as you suggested and pick a caster secondary and make a hybrid. Paladin, Juggernaut, Spellbinder are all good. Or for a super tank, you can go Conqueror (more attacks) or Guardian (extra HP and healing).

To farm bosses/normal mobs, you need to quit the game and restart. Monsters only spawn on new gaming session. If you have updated to v1.20, I would not suggest farming bosses unless you are looking for a monster infrequent item. Boss drops were nerfed in the last update, but always worse the 2nd time killing them since the beginning. In v1.20, you can replay whole map sections for more drops from normal enemies.

Lastly, monster drops are random. Any monster can be using a unique item. But yes, most of the loot is in the chests. There is only a chance of monster (boss or normal) wielding a unique weapon or wearing unique armor. Occasionally, they have monster specific rare items (called Monster Infrequents here on the forums), such as the Outrider's Buckler from centaurs.

i think he means those lesser boss type monsters that sometimes inhabit an area, but not always. those bosses are always random.

Defense/Nature is a fun class to go with if you like being in the thick of combat. In the Nature line, you'll want to focus on Heart of Oak (Increased HP & Speed) & Wolves (their last ability will give you a nice boost to Damage & Speed). The wolves also have nice synergy with some ofthe Defense abilities like Rally.

Hi Xander Steel,

I'm playing as Conqueror (Defence+Warfare) and I'm level 48 in epic difficulty (China)..since patch 1.20 many monsters seem to be easier and I have no problems even if I got surrounded by many monsters! I think that survivance depends on how many hp you have, how big is your pierce and fire resistance and defence ability (to avoid crittical hits). Perfect thing also is damage absorbtion, which negates all the damage from all attacks done on you! Skills with damage absorbtion are Battle standard (also decrease all your spell reacharge by 50%) + Collosus (all this is for conqueror build). These in combination with rally + adrenaline (decrease all spell reacharge by 64%) are deadly insane . % recharge decrease makes you casting all your spells almost all the time you want.

Good builds are also Warden (Defence+Hunting) for high pierce damage and Guardian (Defence+Nature) for many hp and pets. Depends on you and your playing style but I prefer Conqueror.

For your next questions - There are two types of bosses - quest bosses (always present - like Telkine, Typhon, Undead Prince etc.) and rare bosses or how to say (these boyz are random and you may encounter them or not).

Since patch 1.20 bosses have lowered unique item drop (chests too) and all monsters thorough all game have increased unique item drop and if you ask me farming is not worth anymore unless you want to run all greece/egypt/china through..but I love trading - for green items!! Simply restart and go shopping again..

Bye i.n.s.a.n.e

With Gorgons probably poison resistance is your first priority.
