Yes, you are right. I have stated it clearly there, that the first patch is only Bugfixing.
On the other hand, i saw your thread, asking for balancing ideas. A little bit early, but sure canīt hurt to have a look, what people think about that. Itīs a very difficult topic, which in a worse case, could also lead into dividing the community, where we hopefully not end up ! *crossing my fingers*

how does all these fixes affect the multiplayer aspect ?
if the host has these fixes, does the other player need compatible fixes as well ? and what if the host is normal and the other player have these fixes ? |

don't know about additional files (like textures, sounds) but with database - only the host needs to have it (thats the case for instance with xmax - i start the server, friend does not have any custommaps but can play the xmax with me)

Hm... afaik, two gamers who have different database.arz's will not be able to connect. And since the fixes do quite some changes in the database.arz, I would have to say that right now, it's impossible to play if someone didn't install the fixes. Than again, this patch is aimed at every single TQ:IT user, and who'd wanna play without it once its out? It takes care of some nasty bugs that are currently in the game without changing gameplay.
@Guardianwarrior: yes, its a good idea to see what interest there is, it was also my intention with that topic. Although it's not at all meant to make definitive decisions - I've got a rather worked-out idea on how to proceed with a balance patch, it would include a new sub-forum, with its own subforums, stickies and topics discussing pretty much everything that should be balanced. Well, that's future-talk. |

Anyway, I would like to see a list of which fixes it includes, so that I can manually install future fixes and know which ones I need. Did you include all of the fixes? Were all of the fixes working then? |

you shouldn't have to install future fixes manually i plan on keeping up to date on all fix releases and add them to the installer in a timely manor, (as soon as i work all the kinks out of the operation) hoping i did with this release lol

). I think he put everything in that's on the fixed bug list right now, plus all of the French fixes.@luedtke: Well, Ravages of Time is now activated seperately and the Nymph fix is showing the right damage. Well done! It also appears you put in the fix that makes the Nymph use Nature's Wrath all the time, but it was decided to throw that function out since it was a balance issue rather than a fix. Oh well, I don't really have a problem with that But it should be left out in a final version.

Edit: also from now on i'll start adding "confirmed working fixes" to the change log before installation, everything else is a bonus lol Last edited by luedtke6788; 04-02-2008 at 09:38 PM. |
