I would like to believe that If i focused on one area, I should be the best in that area compared to other characters that did not focus on my choosen area.

I've used the hex editor to test out each tree. Most trees have between 220 and 260 total skill points. At least at this stage of the development they do. I'm pretty sure there are going to be changes to quite a few skills that were "unlocked".
I can guarantee you that we won't be maxing both trees, so we won't be the same at max level. That doesn't mean that there won't be cookie-cutter builds though.
