Okay, so I know how to get the custom skins to work but what I really want is to be able to use a creature skin (e.g. satyr, demon, bat, spider, minotaur etc.). But the creature skins are in a compressed file right? Is it possible to use the creature skins as skins for your character? And if yes then how do you do it?

Edit: I suppose if you were to use the creature skins someone would have to make an external character creator like the Never Winter Nights PRC one, if that would even work. The base model is different to NWN which has a pretty complex CC anyway.
